Staying positive when hard times knock is probably one of the hardest tests we face. While there’s truth to the saying, positive begets positive, negative begets negative, human emotions run counter to cognition. When hard times fall upon us, it’s instinctive to want to feel our way through them, a natural part of the coping process. It’s counterintuitive to think that harnessing what comes natural to us is a vital part of the solution, but I’ve learned, first hand, that we manifest what we focus on, plain and simple.

While simple in theory, it’s more daunting in practice. It’s no secret that The Secret basically reiterates the importance of staying positive and practicing the Laws of Attraction on a regular basis, until they become habitual. Bear in mind, if it takes six weeks to change a basic habit, it’s probably going to take a little longer to transform the way your mind thinks, considering it’s been thinking that way since birth. Changing your focus takes real commitment. I’ve been practicing the laws of positive thinking for close to 5 years. I’ve come a long way, but I’m always consciously aware when I fall off track. I’m a very “feeling” person and often wear my heart on my sleeve, so fighting this battle hasn’t been an easy one.

Staying positive requires staying in faith, whatever that means to you. For most, it entails the undoubted knowledge that some higher power/force (God) will make it all work out okay, and if not, for some legitimate reason. SOLO will explore various topics in the areas of positive thinking. Adopt some of these principles, apply them to areas of your life, and watch your life gradually take shape, for the better. If nothing else, you’ll learn to handle stress and setbacks with more ease. You’ll realize that making the most out of a situation doesn’t require that you “see” anything first. In actuality, believing is seeing.
